As a filmmaker and storyteller, I strive to capture the diversity and complexity of the human experience. I focus on coming-of-age stories and the uninhibited nature of childhood. With a subtle hint of surrealism, I invite viewers to step into the world of my protagonists, immersing themselves in my fictional realms.
By incorporating societal themes such as feminism, childlike wonder, and the intricate relationships between parent and child into my work, I shed light on the shortcomings of our society. I explore our internalized expectations of women and their impact on childhood. I do this by telling stories with identifiable and realistic female characters.
In my graduation film ‘Pepita’, I delve deeper into these themes, addressing our conditioned view of femininity and its influence on the self-image of young girls. My approach is rooted in using a 'slice of life' structure, guiding viewers through seemingly simple moments. In this way, I aim to encourage audiences to connect with the characters on a more intimate and personal level, wrapping realistic female experiences in a fictional setting. Through my work, I aspire to challenge viewers to see the world from underrepresented perspectives.
